Seoul, Korea
Jiyoung Yoon is a South Korean sound artist and electronic music composer known
for her innovative exploration of diverse genres within contemporary music.
Her work blends unique sound design with cutting-edge technology.
After relocating to Germany in 2016, she expanded her practice across Europe,
participating in numerous exhibitions and performances.
She bridges the boundaries
between electronic live performances, sound installations, and film sound, demonstrating her versatility as an artist.
In 2023, after returning to Korea, she joined the Soundlab research team at the Asia Culture Center (ACC),
where she created multiple works for exhibitions.
Her current focus is on presentations that combine electronically generated sounds
with sounds captured through various recording techniques, including ambisonics.
She is also exploring underwater recordings and other specialized forms of sound capture.
Additionally, Yoon is curating the Sonic Nomads field recording festival, launching in 2025,
and collaborating with field recording communities in Korea and Asia
to share sound libraries and explore new ways of connecting through sound.
